‘Saad’s Olive Tree’ vying at Syrian festival

Iranian short flick ‘Saad’s Olive Tree’ has been competing at the LELOUN International Film Festival in Syria.

The Iranian Youth Cinema Society reported that Ahmed Zayeri’s ‘Saad’s Olive Tree’ is among the Iranian short films selected to be screened at the LELOUN.

The film is about the effects of war on children.

‘Saad’s Olive Tree’ narrates the story of a boy named Saad, who loves football.

Saad loses his eyes during a Daesh attack on Syria.

Since then, he locks himself up at home and stops playing football and visiting his favorite olive tree.

Earlier reports said Farshid Abdi’s ‘Command’, ‘Tumor’ by Javad Ganji, Lida Fazli’s ‘This Side, Other Side’, and ‘Mountain’ by Teymour Qaderi, as well as Amir Osanlou’s documentary ‘Old Man & Singer’, all from Iran, are also present at the Syrian event.

The LELOUN International Film Festival receives films made by amateurs and professionals from around the world.

The first edition of the event opened on Monday and will run until Friday.
